hawthorn gathered in the may
atop a tree of birch
gaily blowing in the wind
rainbow ribbons spin

queen of may, jack o'green
bless the fields and land
lively dancing kissing twirling
ribbons in the hand

king making, goddess blessed
sacred vows of ancient days
wrapping ribbons round the pole
dance the sacred ways

spread the grass make a bed
lay upon the land
spill the seed bless the night
lovers hand in hand

Spring

I have always wished to see the gorse blooming across the land - something perhaps about my blood ties to the land. I believe it would be much akin to what I felt as a child when the forsythia bloomed or when now, I see my first daffodils or the gorgeous Texas redbud burst into color before even green leaves shoot forth!

Spring is such a wonderful time! What I see about me is so clearly the same as I feel within.  That incredible bursting forth - the need to DO pulsing forth from my center of being.

At the highest point on the tree, you stretch, reaching for the sun. Your pink petals elegant in their grace, you stand alone.  Bravest of all, for leaves have yet to come to offer shade Branches bare except for furry buds that will soon follow in imitation of your daring first move. Intrepid flower of Spring, I feel like you in my yearning for the Sun!
